By starting an Internet Community Centre, which is one of the priorities named by the inhabitants of Bawku, we believe that we can make a contribution.
It's our aim to effectively narrow the gap that currently exists between the supply of and demand for internet accessibility for the youth and de productive poor in Bawku. Specifically, large segments of the Ghanaian population seem to be excluded from access and/ or benefit of the current internet eruption. People in rural communities, people and business in certain social settings are clearly underserved, even though they constitute a rather important component of the development cycle.
In discussion with the local citizens of Bawku, especially the youth we agreed to help them set-up a sustainable Internet Community Centre.
1. Aims of The Bawku Foundation: a. helping the inhabitants (particularly young people) of Bawku (Ghana) with their development and to increase their education chances. This means among other things to grant material and immaterial support at setting up a Internet Community Centre with educations facilities.
2. The Bawku foundation tries to realise their aims by: a. The students of Pius-X and Canisius schools in Almelo, the Netherlands will be carrying out fundraising activities; b. acquiring money and/or goods from sponsors; c. developing and maintaining contacts with organisations which are operative in the same area.
